Summer Reading FAQ
Summer Reading Program runs June 1 – July 31. We’ll kick it off May 31 at 1p.m. with a PARTY! Join us for a bounce obstacle course, face painting, airbrush tattoos, and cake! Sign up for summer reading, get a goodie bag and free prize kids book, and enter to win the big raffle prize—four tickets to FunPlex!
​How do I sign up?
You can sign up for the Summer Reading Program in person at the library beginning with our kick-off party on May 31. Kids receive a goody bag and free prize book for signing up while supplies last.

Who can participate?
Anyone of any age can sign-up for summer reading and enjoy our programs throughout June and July, but you’ll need a Baright library card to checkout our fun items from our collection. Cards are free to Douglas County residents and Ralston Public Schools families and staff. Non-resident cards are available for $75 for a year to $25 for four months.

How do I participate?
Sign up at the library and receive a reading log to track your minutes read. Visit the library each week to show us your minutes and collect a small prize—and check out more awesome books!

Is there a limit on how much I read?
Nope! If you fill up your log, you can always fill out another and keep enjoying all the great books at BPL. Friends don’t tell friends to stop reading.

Do audiobooks count as reading?
Absolutely!

You said I can sign up my baby, but babies can’t read …
Reading to your baby or toddler sets the foundation for literacy. Just log the minutes you spend reading to your little one (and you can add that to your own log, too!).

What events are at the library this summer?
We have something going on nearly every day. Check out our calendar for upcoming events. Most events do not require registration, but Ozobots and the 4-H Babysitting Clinic do (and they fill up fast).
